Travelers’ Night In — The Bucket List!

On this week’s round of Travelers’ Night In , the interactive Twitter discussion for avid travelers and travel lovers, the theme was the Bucket List: all the things in travel we want to do before we die!  As always, ten questions were asked, people responded while tagging their tweets #TNI , and learned quite a bit about some new destinations!

Q1. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

artistatlarge Just ONE place? Geesh, so many I have not been to yet … Maybe to the place I was named after – the Kimberley Diamond Mines.

awayblog Angkor Wat is top of my list right now, but the list changes hourly

ACYPL The Black Sea — one of the best places to see the stars in the world

travel_version Definitely Antarctica. Talk about the trip of a lifetime.

VaiViaBlog would have to be greece, cape town, ghana and nigeria, egypt, bali, fiji, tokyo, buenos aires, costa rica…to start with

Everywhere.  But one destination captivating me the most lately is Sri Lanka.

I’m working on getting there.  I have a plan.  You’ll hear about it soon.  😉

Q2. Most disappointing item you’ve already scratched off your bucket list?

travoholic Ostrich riding… it was a bit anti-climactic.

WanderLoz Liverpool!! BEYOND disappointed. I gave up a Sat night in London for that?! At least we left early to get an extra night in Dublin.
GetPackedTravel Beijing, horrible smog, horrible traffic — LOVED all the cultural & historical attractions but not planning a return trip
WeekendInParis Athens dirty, sketchy cab drivers & lack of good restaurants. Depressing lack of care of national treasures!

Mikeachim The Eurostar / Channel Tunnel. Wanted at least a blast of accordion music entering France. But, nothing.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa doesn’t have much to offer — that’s why I always advise visiting Pisa briefly, then heading to nearby Lucca for the rest of the day!

StayAdventurous taking a year off for a #RTW travel sabbatical. I am ready for round2.

Last time in Vegas was my first time at Body English, the club at the Hard Rock Hotel.  That is a rocking club with a different atmosphere from any of the others in Las Vegas.  Can’t wait to return!

Q4. One person you’d take to experience your bucket list with?

Vagabond3Live someone with a Immigration fast pass

khegre Husband. He drives stick shift and I don’t, so that’s handy. Plus, you know, we’re in love.

LocoGringoCom My dad, he gave up so much to raise us, I’d like to blow his mind

ZipSetAndrea Ewan MacGregor…sorry hubby! Did you see the reality show where he rode a motorcycle across Europe, Russia, Mongolia, etc? HOT

Bradley Cooper, David Beckham and the Old Spice Man.

Whoops!  Wrong bucket list.

But seriously, the Old Spice Man!  SWAN DIVE!  What can’t he do?!

Q5. One thing you can’t wait to eat from a bucket list destination?

artofbackpackin In 30 days I’ll be eating at the Muslim night market in Xi’an, China.. hheckk yeaahh

DreamingNan Poutine. Seems horrible but it would mean I finally got to visit Quebec :))) (Good alternative : loads of stuff with mapple syrup)

travelerkate Being gluten-free makes it harder to eat the local fare, so I’ll stick to anywhere with good booze! Lemoncello, tequila, rum, vodka

MannySamaniego Ate whitefish sashimi that was prepared alive & swallowed beatng eel heart last week. Researching what I can do in Seoul this fall

20sTravel I’m going to eat EVERYTHING in Thailand. there will be none left for you.

You were all repulsed by my reply: a kind of cheese in Germany on which maggots first defecate, then die.  Seriously.  I read about it in a book.  Also, when you’re done with this, check out The Six Most Terrifying Foods in the World .

Or — how about pho for breakfast in Vietnam?

Wanderingtradr Smack the naked cowboy on his butt and run… LOL

I’d like to race my sister from Anchorage to Ushaia, no planes allowed, each of us going in the opposite direction!  Sibling rivalry, epic travel, and we’d meet up in the middle for a temporary truce!  Perhaps the Corn Islands in Nicaragua?

AppetiteforLife I’d like our family to live abroad during daughter’s teens. Maybe not unique but definitely the most challenging to make come true.

TripStyler Sheer a sheep in NZ and make a sweater out of it…

whereisyvette Join astronaut corps at NASA, be first person on Mars. Working towards my Astronomy PhD so it’s not TOTALLY impossible!

I’d like to visit Matera in the Basilicata region of Italy and spend the night in a sassi, or cave house.  Sassi are carved into the hills there, and many have been turned into luxury hotels and hostels alike!

Q10. If you had 1 week to live, where would you go?

itsmescotty The doctor….

NinaDietzel Paris–lost my heart there once, will lose it again (in just 1 week)!

TravelSavvyKayt I keep saying Jordan. But it’s TRUE. I’d go to Jordan. Meditate in the desert. Go canyoning. Then hit a Dead Sea spa.

srmcculley Eat and drink myself to death in the French countryside

craftyxplorer A place to cure me so I can travel some more!

Not a fan of “if you had one week to live” questions (they make me so sad!), but it’s hard to argue with somewhere better than the Seychelles.
