Joshua Berman reports on GoToNicaragua.com that Spirit Air will start flying to Managua, Nicaragua on August 2. You can buy tickets now for the flights running three times a week. Starting November 15 flights will run daily.
These run from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, an airport that is relatively small and hassle-free, and has the additional bonus of being a Southwest Airlines airport. This means you can snag a cheap one-way flight on Southwest to there, then catch a one-way Spirit Air flight to Nicaragua—without all the restrictions that the legacy carriers hit you with. Great for long-term travelers who plan on spending some real time in Central America.
Speaking of such, Spirit Air is becoming a real player in this region, which is bound to be good news for airfare prices. They are already running flights to Costa Rica and Guatemala, with Honduras on the way.
