While traveling the world these past few years, we have come to the conclusion that聽Canada has some of the best customer service out there. We’re always so happy when we return and are greeted with a smile and “how are you?” when we enter an establishment. We love chatting with the cashier at the mall or talking shop with the sales people at our favourite electronics store.
We had almost forgotten what a quality check was at a restaurant until we returned to the Great White North and had our waitress ask us how our fajitas were a few minutes after we dug in. Canadians may take all of this for granted, but Dave and I really notice the little things after we return from abroad. “How is your meal today sir? Can I help you with what you are looking for?” “Let me get you a refill.” It’s amazing.
Canadians are known all over as the most polite people in the world.
Everyone makes fun of how much we apologize or how we’re always saying please and thank you, like it’s a bad thing.聽Is this a bad thing?聽No way!聽We’re proud of our Canadianisms. We embrace the fact that we say sorry, even when it’s not warranted. We love asking complete strangers how their day is. We love talking about the weather in the elevator because we can’t handle the awkward silence. We love making small talk at the cash register. 鈥淗ello, our names are Dave and Deb. We’re Canadian and we are chronically nice!鈥?/b>Canadian companies are nice too. As a matter a fact service is so important to companies like American Express Canada they conducted a study that scientifically proves that great service聽produces strong, positive emotions that are good for your well being. Ah, that’s why Canada is always near the top of all those lists that name the best place in the world to live. All our good service makes us feel good and when we feel good, we make other’s feel good. How do we make other鈥檚 feel good?聽
