Christopher Osmont is a 32 year-old movie enthusiast, living with his wife and 3-year old son, in the suburbs of Paris, not far from Versailles. He doesn’t have much experience with filmmaking and this contest was the first one in which he’s ever participated.

He heard about the contest thanks to his wife, who received the announcement email from TripAdvisor. They tried to find an interesting take on what makes Paris – well – Paris. So he went for the breakfast.
He’s as surprised as he is thrilled by this win. He intends to spend it on his next family vacation and he’s already dreaming of locations!
What inspired you to participate in the TripAdvisor Ad Contest?
I love video making and editing. My wife received the mail from TripAdvisor and said it could be interesting for me, knowing my passion for that kind of thing. As it was my first time doing this kind of contest, we did it for fun – secretly hoping to win, but without high hopes of it.
How did you come up with the idea for your winning entry in the TripAdvisor Ad Contest?
At first, I wanted to use the image of the view the Eiffel Tower to represent Paris. But we eventually decided otherwise, due to image rights, and the lack of originality of this idea which would probably be used by many other contestants. So we looked for a less-known but still iconic symbol of Paris: the breakfast. We thought it was an original and very specific way to talk about French culture.
What is some of your previous ad/filmmaking experience?
Very little experience. I love to shoot small vacation videos, but for personal use only.
Any famous film that influenced you? What is your favorite film of all time?
2001 L’Odyssée de l’Espace.
