Axes are a fundamental tool for splitting wood. What about doubling an axe’s business end with a cross-blade?

The “cross blade axe” is a DIY concept that we haven’t seen on the market. But follow the instructions and you can build your own. Warning: You’ll need a welder and angle grinder and know how to use them.

The crossed blade axe would probably work great with straight-grained wood, but seems like it could be a nightmare with gnarled logs or super tight grains.
