OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY -- A photo by Spokane pastor/photographer Craig Goodwin has been named the Reader Photo of the Year -- by the Seattle Times .

Goodwin, 46, has treated readers of The Spokesman-Review with stunning images ranging from underwater kokanee spawning action to the Milky Way over Palouse Falls and the aurora boreallis behind Priest Lake.

We think all of his photos are winners.

But Goodwin went to the big leagues and tough competition of the Emerald City and caught serious attention with his shot of the northern lights splashing color on the horizon beyond a little country church near Davenport.  He calls it Steeples of Light .

"It's kind of fun to have an East Side photographer and location get some love by the Times editors," he said.

Goodwin is the pastor at Millwood Community Presbyterian Church.
